Testimonial for the Hypnotic Gastric Band system:
"Dear Graham I wanted to update you on my progress. Well it is week 7 since I first saw you and I have now lost 20lb in total. Last week my Doctor wrote me a lovely letter about how interested he was in my virtual gastric band and said that he thought other patients might benefit and wanted your details. I photo copied your card several times and wrote a nice reply saying that I hoped other patients would benefit from this type of treatment. I am still very happy and doing really well and joined a Gym at the weekend and have been swimming daily since - I am going to have an induction for the Gym equipment at the weekend and they also have great classes at the Gym one in particular I am hoping to attend next week is "Salsa" it is without partners and just the movements to music which would be ideal for me as I love the music.
It really is changing my life and whole outlook on things. You may certainly post my letters as testimonials as I am truly very happy and I really hope other people get the same success. I am on holiday on ... for a week and may come and see you for my floating appointment on return to keep focused. I will take my CD with me and listen daily! Regards Mrs M (Name witheld for confidentiality reasons)"
"I was waiting until today to give you a progress report as I had a Doctors' appointment this morning and he was VERY pleased with my weight loss he said 11 pounds since he last weighed me in January but I know it is 1 stone now so am also VERY pleased and VERY happy. I did tell the Doctor of how I was achieving my weight loss and he was very interested and supportive and thought it was a good choice for me as it certainly seemed to be working. I did miss my weekly appointment slot this week and think I may book in a couple of weeks to have the band tightened a little so that I do not lose focus. I have been listening to week two CD every day at least once. I am feeling exceedingly HAPPY and keep smiling and it certainly is changing my life and I thank you for this and will certainly keep you updated weekly as I think it will help me too. I am thinking about some excercise now and am going swimming. On Saturday my friend has invited me to .... House in Colchester I really need to start doing some walking or swimming or something and then feel the weight would reduce quicker so I am working on that! Any way Thanks again and keep in touch" MF
In reality the gastric band is an adjustable band also known as a Lap - Band, that is placed around the top portion of the stomach, via keyhole surgery, in order to treat obesity. The gastric band is however not an easy option for the obese due to the surgery involved, it is a drastic step, and carries the usual pain and risks of any major surgical operation in this area of the body. The same applies to stomach stapling. With the HypnoGastricBand© you can have the same results but without the risk and astronomical cost.
Step 1: At your first session we will give you a free 30 minute initial consultation. This is to ensure we have all the important details we need and that you are 100% happy with your course of action. We will then begin with the first step which will involve some work in hypnosis to release any negative emotion and build your morale and confidence so you are set to begin the new chapter of your life. This is the time to get excited! You will also get some nutritional advice to get you enjoying great food without yo yo dieting - putting you in touch with eating well and not eating too much! Step 2: Because we believe weight problems are psychological this session will focus solely on you to remove any negative emotion that you may be repressing. We also help you to build your confidence and stop comfort and binge eating or overeating because of stress or an addictive personality. This is something that will enable you to maintain your weight loss forever. We believe this step to be hugely important in weight loss therapy and is why our process is so much more successful in the long term than others. If it is felt that more sessions are needed here before we can continue then we will discuss this with you and make suitable arrangements for this. Step 3: Your 'consultation' at the clinic and further work on the "why?" of overeating. We will then take you to meet the 'surgeon' and include lots of positive suggestion. Step 4: The 'surgery' itself Step 5: Although not necessary for all - some people may find they want an adjustment on their band or a top up session this could be done at any time in the future and is available to all that desire it. Or maybe you will just want your band removed as you no longer need it!
You are supplied with nutritional information to enable you to choose wisely and free CDs are supplied to listen between sessions and really embed the new positive suggestions. When you are hypnotised you will be deeply relaxed and aware at all times of all the procedures. We work together to address all your reasons for overeating. If you have a BMI under 30 and want to lose weight without faddy diets then my ordinary3 part weight loss course will be the better option. SEE BELOW

Gastric Band Hypnotherapy as Effective as Surgery for the Obese
Apr 17, 2010 by Grace Joubarne
The European hypnotherapy technique "gastric band fitting" successfully facilitates weight loss in the obese without the cost and side effects of surgery.
While the basic concept of using hypnotic techniques to reduce the size of the stomach has been around for many years, hypnotherapists Marion and Martin Shirran, of the Elite Clinics in Spain, formally developed and trademarked their technique after an obese client quipped “If only a person could be hypnotized to believe they had a gastric band…” Now, this virtual procedure is gaining favor around the world under several trademarks.
Dangers of Actual Gastric Band Surgery A surgically implanted gastric band is usually reserved for those classified as "obese" and who demonstrate a body mass index (BMI) over 30. It reduces the size of the stomach, thus the patient feels fuller after eating smaller portions of food. The surgery has several significant drawbacks: * The surgery is expensive; hospitalization is required; * Gastric band surgery is considered a "last gasp" option because of fatalities; * There is a possibility of complications and side effects of prescribed drugs during recovery. Why Gastric Band Hypnotherapy Works Researchers and scientists all over the world have conceded that the "mind/body connection" holds the key to wellness, achievement and personal development. The technique of using the subconscious mind to imagine a gastric band around the neck of the stomach as a "reality" has been showing great results (Maclean, 2010, Bruce, 2010). Certainly it is entirely safe, very cost-effective and has none of the side-effects and dangers of surgical gastric band fitting. Standard weight management hypnotherapy involves hypnosis, direct suggestion and dietary changes. Gastric band hypnotherapy adds the imagination of the actual surgical procedures, including later "adjustments" to the virtual "band" tightness. As well, the mind is convinced the stomach has become smaller and thus clients feel full more quickly. By eating less and adhering to a healthy lifestyle, weight dissolves permanently. How Gastric Band Hypnotherapy Works Essentially gastric band hypnotherapy treatment has evolved to combine cognitive behaviour therapy, hypnotherapy, guided imagery and nutritional counselling, with variations in methodology from practitioner to practitioner. The procedure of gastric band surgery is explained to the client during an in-depth and detailed intake session and before the client is hypnotized. Typically the emotional root-cause of the over-eating issue is dissolved using standard hypnotherapeutic techniques, including regression. Typically, clients are hypnotized over four to five sessions and eventually guided to imagine, in detail, that they are having gastric band surgery: 1. Over the first three to four sessions, depending upon the client’s readiness and the practitioner’s preferences, the client is guided to imagine the overall preparation and procedures involved in the placement or fitting of a band around the upper part of their stomach. 2. At the fourth to fifth session, the client imagines that the band is actually “fitted” into place at the upper part of their stomach. 3. Positive and direct suggestions are given for weight loss, meal portion and quality of diet throughout the hypnotherapy process; the client is assisted to develop a new and more productive relationship with food. 4. The client is typically asked to listen to a reinforcement CD regularly until the desired weight and diet control is permanently achieved. 5. After 28-30 days the client is hypnotized and guided to imagine the band being "adjusted" and reinforcement for positive dietary and exercise changes is also repeated. 6. Dietary and lifestyle changes are also "suggested" in hypnosis and reinforcement CDs are utilized for continuing support as indicated. Some practitioners such as Jagi Egnell in British Columbia, Canada, work with nutritionists to further empower and support their clients, while others actually create the hospital smells to further reinforce, for the subconscious mind, the "reality" of the surgery. Some practitioners orchestrate the entire "surgery" ensuring the client fasts before the "fitting" and have someone pick up the client after the "virtual fitting." Practitioner Dr Bryan Knight of Montreal points out the importance of doing a detailed interview to ensure the procedure is not used on those with issues such as bulimia. Practitioners interviewed for this article have indicated that gastric band hypnotherapy is not indicated for those with thyroid problems, not qualified as obese, not fully committed or for those who do not have medical clearance.

HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT FOR GOOD without a "diet plan and dieting":
Diet plans and dieting - Cabbage soup, Atkins Diet, starvation restriction diets and the rest by Graham Howes
1: Diet: Latest research seems to indicate that diets (whatever they may be) are usually good in the short term though sometimes can actually be harmful if based around a restriction of some kind (e.g. only eat Grapefruit or Cabbage or Protein or Low Carb only) because they put unwarranted strain on the liver and kidneys. Balance is the key – if you suddenly favour one thing over the other your body may go into shock! Also short term weight loss may only be that – you start to gain weight as soon as you go back to your old ways!
The latest thinking is that really the most effective way to lose weight is simple: change the way that you eat and change your relationship with food and up your exercise. The key to permanent weight loss is simple: less calories and more exercise means that your body behaves optimally burning only what it needs – so no need to store the excess food as Fat. It is also important that the food is of good quality and not full of empty or useless calories. Also if it is fresh food then it contains all the nutrients that you need – so no need for vitamins and other supplements. I will explain:
Firstly latest research suggests that a good day should go like this:
Breakfast: high protein – such as an egg omelette with lots of Ham or low sugar Baked Beans and grilled Bacon. (Better still make your own baked beans haricot and tomato sauce with cinnamon.) Or Beans and jacket. Tofu and baked or red beans.
Lunch: Home made soup – tests showed that if you took for instance chicken and rice and a glass of water – if you had it just that way people were hungry in a shorter time than if they cooked the chicken and rice and blended it into a home made soup – so home made soup with protein and carbohydrates with fresh vegetables can be an effective ally in weight loss. Low sugar Beans and Baked Potato with a small amount of butter is also a good mix.
Lean or oily fish, meat or beans or tofu and salad leaves (careful with the dressing) - lemon and olive oil with some Dijon mustard is a great low calorie -dressing on some good quality Italian leaves and Rocket.
Evening: Lean protein meat or beans or fish with steamed vegetables. Lots of fruit and vegetables preferably steamed. Fresh salads – cheese is actually OK – see below.
Cheese surprisingly has just been given a cleaner bill of health – dairy surprisingly helps you excrete more fat! This is a new one!! In moderation though.
None of the above need be boring – spend the money you spend on “naughty foods” or expensive processed ready meals full of unhealthy fattening fat sugar and salt on an exotic piece of expensive fruit, great protein, fish or a great salad mix – preferably home made. (Again watch the dressings for sugar and fat!) Tried Mango mixed with rocket leaves? Food heaven! A small piece of high quality protein is often more cost effective that buying large amounts of fatty mince. Grazing can be better than a few big meals for some with sugar issues. Just eat smaller portions of great quality food.
Moderation is your watchword: Small amounts of PLAIN chocolate can be good for you – full of bioflavinoids. The main thing is to avoid HIGH FAT foods and HIGH SUGAR and HIGH SALT. Read the labels – lots of ready meals are FULL of unhealthy fat and sugar some of them apparently diet ones!! If it is above 7% fat it is to be treated with caution – fat is more bad news than the calories!! If it has a traffic light system - green is best avoid the rest. Better when you prepare your own food to make a bit extra to freeze and put into a container to be microwaved when short of time instead of buying "ping" microwave ready meals ready made and full of chemicals and FAT SUGAR and SALT.
Take pieces of fruit and vegetables seeds raw nuts trail mix or raisons or grapes or bananas to snack on if necessary. Crisps alas are full of fat and sugar – just hold a lighter to one and watch the fat drip off it. Sandwiches - try to avoid them and if you do make them your self - use wholemeal bread and fresh vegetable or salad and lean meat in them. A smear of Butter is actually better than margarine – try leaving a pot of margarine out for a while and you will see what I mean…
The Meal Deal; Processed Bread plus water filled and salty Ham / fatty Cheese plus fatty margarine plus fat filled salty sugary mayonnaise plus crisps - 11% fat and coke - 12 spoonfuls of sugar and caffeine - no wonder one quarter are OBESE in the UK not just overweight! In the US a staggering two thirds are obese! Also Junk food - junkie food has been cynically filled with fat sugar salt and we have become addicted to it. You think I exaggerate? The American Health Authority has classified burgers and fried chicken from well known chains as ADDICTIVE and responsible for much of the obesity in the US.
Also: Consider WHY you over eat? Is it really pleasure or is it to do with anxiety, stress or negative self image. That is part of why I come into the picture because I can help you identify and change your relationship with food – i.e. you use it for nutrition and pleasure not as self punishment, punishment for others or for “comfort” or as a “treat”. “Treat” yourself with moderation – and don’t then feel guilty about it!
2: Exercise
Exercise is really important. It does not have to be the Gym or weights. Yoga or Pilates are just as good. Even walking the dog further than usual or getting off the bus one stop earlier. Running up the escalator rather than standing still. Walking up stairs rather than taking the lift. Standing and jogging/moving on the spot gently rather than always sitting – it can be when on the phone or washing up. The main thing is even small amounts of exercise can make big differences and you will feel better because even small amounts of exercise create endorphins which make you feel good. The more the merrier really – so if you suddenly take up the bike and gradually up your mileage – or start swimming again - really good!!
3: Decrease portion size. Buy a smaller “magic” plate if necessary.
Bottom line is threefold: read the small print on packets and here -
EAT LESS and what you eat should be LOW FAT and with LESS SUGAR – preferably high lean protein such as fish, lean meat or beans. Moderation is the keyword – treats are OK if in moderation and preferably LOW FAT and SUGAR. 7% fat or more and lots of sugar is BAD!!!
EXERCISE MORE – even if it is walking up stairs rather than use a lift or parking one car park further away from work. Walking fast rather than slow and try to get slightly out of breath. This is a minimum – better to just get more exercise – join a dance class or yoga or whatever suits you and you enjoy.
EAT NUTRITIONALLY – don’t overeat then go on a crash diet! Listen to your body. Let your clothes dictate – don’t buy bigger get yourself smaller. It is rarely genetic – we just eat too much for our needs. If you think you are eating healthily and within your calories and you are still overweight you are probably forgetting snacks and treats and your portion size – no matter how “healthy is too big! Make sure you eat enough of lean protein – sometimes bingeing on carbs is a by product of not enough protein – beans, fish, lean meat or lean meat. We know to eat more fruit salad and veg - make it the best that you can buy and steam or lightly cook it and eat slowly and enjoy it!
AVOID JUNK FOOD The American Health Association has published findings which indicate that junk food like burgers and chicken from fast food restaurants will make you obese. The burgers have a lot of fat and sugar and thus we get addicted to these substances which means we not only pile on the weight but also endanger our health risking heart problems and carrying weight that puts strain on our joints. Yes it is official that eating junk food turns you into a fat and sugar junkie. That isn't talking about the fries which are fat saturated. Think of it this way: imagine a pound of lard or look at one. Now how much over your ideal weight are you? How many pounds of lard? If you are just one stone you are 14 pounds of lard - what does that look like? It would fill a rucksack. If you had to carry that rucksack even for an hour you would soon be complaining of pain in the joints and back and feeling tired. Yet this is exactly what you are doing to yourself every day - as well as putting strain on the other parts of your body like your heart. Many ready meals in supermarkets are full of fat (over 7 is bad) and sugar. It is a false economy to buy tons of cheap food - spend your money on small quantities of better quality food. You spend lots on your appearance - shampoos, nails, hair, make up, gym, yoga, sports, Wii fit etc and then feed your inside with rubbish food! Would you put substandard petrol or diesel in your car? I think not - it would soon stop working!
Bottom line:
Eat less of good food -not "junk(ie) food" - and exercise more. If you eat less and exercise more you will lose weight permanently! Weight loss is always going to be down to you - if you genuinely want to lose weight with my help you will!
Find out the reasons with me why you overeat with me before you start to lose weight - deal with the issues and mostly you will find that you get in touch with your optimal self and lose weight. You will also have fun!
Discover food in a new way - really begin to enjoy it again in a new way.
Keep a food diary to see when and why (were you stressed? bored?) and how much you eat certain foods (do you have a chocolate or junk food addiction?!).
